This past spring, The Branch team has added a few members including this talented gal, Alexa! A graduate of Texas A&M, this Aggie brings not only her passion for design but her many different creative talents to the table!  You can always find Alexa with flowers in her hand or with her adorable puppy Baloo, in her apron pocket. Learn more about our awesome production and design assistant below!

Favorite memory from college?

I am a huge college football fan. My competitive side shines brightly in this subject. The season Texas A&M joined the SEC was a good one. I went to the Alabama game in Tuscaloosa to visit a dear friend from high school with my older sister and a sorority sister. We were expecting to get beat, obviously…it’s Alabama! We ended up winning and ending a huge winning streak for Bama. It was the best sporting event I had ever been too! That season Johnny Manziel won The Heisman Trophy and I got to see the Aggies beat Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. I couldn’t tell you what classes I took that semester, but I know the score of that Alabama game! Sorry Mom and Dad.

Favorite class or professor from college?
Wedding Floral Design, of course! This course is where I learned the basics of handwork, which is now my favorite thing to do. Mr. William J. McKinley taught all my floral design classes. He is an extremely talented man who really helped me channel my creativity and made me fall in love with floral design.

Favorite part of The Branch?
The work environment! It has been such a blessing to work in a studio with such creative minds who are equally as kind and hardworking. Everyone has the same goals in mind here and work together to accomplish them. We can all laugh and have a good time, and still produce quality events every week. Not to mention we are all A+ singers and dancers. The four-legged friends also lighten things up!

Favorite memory at The Branch?
I think it is a tie between: dancing and singing to the Grease soundtrack in the studio and striking with sombreros and floral crowns on left over at a wedding in San Antonio.  Although installing that dance floor at the last wedding will forever be etched in my mind.

What do you like to do for fun?
Right now the majority of my free time is spent with my new havanese puppy, Baloo. He is a handful…good thing he’s adorable! I really like to bake cookies and other sweets when I have the time. Debby has also inspired me to get into sketching recently. I also like to fish and be outdoors.

Favorite flower?
Anemones- I love the way it stands out in designs, the dark center is so strong on such a delicate flower! I would say a new favorite that Debby introduced me to is the Sahara Rose. I love the antique look of it and it opens up beautifully.

Favorite source of inspiration?
For color – nature around the world. For example, the bright blue water of Greece next to their crisp white and neutral buildings. Love that!

For floral and design – there are SO many amazing floral designers inspire me. Social media makes it so easy to see all the different styles of design. Week to week when we are processing flowers, seeing them come in makes me gears turn every time!

Adios, Amanda!

05.13.16

We are so proud to announce the Branch’s Finance Manager, Amanda Ferguson, is “branching out!”

Amanda began her journey with Branching Out in 2009 as the company’s very first intern! Over the past 7 years, she has continued to be part of each area of the business- from managing clients and creating beautiful handwork, to ultimately being trusted to manage the company’s finances. She was, and always will be Debby’s original “Right Hand Woman!”

In January, she officially announced the exciting news that she and her husband, Chip, purchased a business of their own, The Alaska Rainbow Lodge. This exclusive fishing lodge, located in Southwestern Alaska off the scenic Kvichak River, provides an adventure of a lifetime while discovering the true wilderness of North America. The purchase was a natural progression for her husband, who has been working at the Lodge for over 9 years, starting as a camp hand and ultimately becoming a bush pilot. [Read more…]
