Bouquets have become my specialty! When I started my first job in the industry in 2000, I assisted the handwork designer at a large design firm. I started with baby steps…wrapping handles with satin ribbon, spritzing the blooms with water and covering her masterpieces with cellophane to preserve freshness.
15 years later, I still love making little detail pieces: bouquets, boutonnieres, jewelry-esque floral wristlets. For brides on their big day, this is their first impression of the floral, so I want to make sure we knock her stockings off from the very beginning!
When considering what type of bouquet to carry, I suggest brides consider a few things:
- the overall style of the wedding (classic, modern, organic)
- her personal style (the simplicity of J Crew or bohemian touch of Anthropologie)
- her wedding gown (a bouquet with a more simplistic composition allows a dress with lots of details on the gown to shine)
Cheers to beautiful bouquets!
