Meet Our Summer Intern – Ellie!

Meet Ellie Brason – our summer intern! Ellie is a senior at Southern Methodist University majoring in Marketing and minoring in History. She is also an executive officer for her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. Born and raised in New York, this northern gal’s determination and drive for success is definitely contagious. We are so excited to see what she will accomplish this summer!

Favorite memory from college?
My favorite memory is last summer when I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia, Fiji and New Zealand – where I got to go bungee jumping!

Favorite class or professor?
Being a marketing major and a history minor, I love taking classes about American and European history.

What will you miss about college?
I have lived in the sorority house for the past 2 years and I’ll miss being surrounded by my best friends every day.

Favorite flower?
Ivory hydrangea or pink peonies!

Favorite part of The Branch?
I love getting to work with and learn from Debby, Katy, Haley and Alexa. They have so much knowledge about this industry and learning from them is so exciting!

Team Max or Team Hilde?
Team Max because Hilde likes to play rough! Haha

What do you like to do for fun?
I love to cook, travel and look at interior design blogs.

What are you looking forward to the most as our intern?
I hope to take on more responsibility and gain experience in the Dallas event industry.

Spring Trends at The Branch

One of the amazing things about being in the event design industry, is how it is always changing. Trends and styles are constantly evolving, from new and modern styles making their debuts to a more classic style requested by clients. And if you know Debby, she is always taking the current trends and fads and putting her unique spin on them. From custom acrylic pieces to collection tabletop designs, we are loving these newest spring trends!

Your guest’s first impression as they enter your wedding reception will set the tone for the evening. Creating a unique escort card display has become an increasing popular trend. For this February wedding at the Joule Hotel in Dallas, TX, we designed a custom iron frame which perfectly fit a clear acrylic piece detailed with seating assignments. A variety of jewel-toned orchids detailed the top of the structure, providing a perfect floral cap!

Custom acrylic pieces are making a comeback in the wedding world! For this bride, we adorned this acrylic Chuppah with a header of lush floral blooms across the top. We added strands of white dendrobium orchids inside each clear column for a modern touch. This turned a traditional religious wedding staple into a custom unique statement piece! The ghost chairs, provided by the Joule Hotel, perfectly complemented the Chuppah. Another modern acrylic fixture to consider in your wedding design is a clear acrylic cake stand. This piece elevates your show stopping wedding cake, giving it the appearance of floating above a gorgeous table linen.

Katherine-Bahlburg If you know Debby, then you know how much she loves being a woman in business and loves to meet other women in business! Katherine Bahlburg, owner of Bells and Barbells, is a personal trainer for brides! She coaches them in not only fitness, but in nutrition and skills to continue their fitness journeys after the big day. Her electric personality and positive attitude for life is definitely inspiring, and of course, motivating! She genuinely cares for her clients and develops life-long friendships. My first impression – Debby was awesome and seeing her passion for what she does is incredible. I love how excited she was about another woman in business!

Adios, Amanda!

We are so proud to announce the Branch’s Finance Manager, Amanda Ferguson, is “branching out!”

Amanda began her journey with Branching Out in 2009 as the company’s very first intern! Over the past 7 years, she has continued to be part of each area of the business- from managing clients and creating beautiful handwork, to ultimately being trusted to manage the company’s finances. She was, and always will be Debby’s original “Right Hand Woman!”

In January, she officially announced the exciting news that she and her husband, Chip, purchased a business of their own, The Alaska Rainbow Lodge. This exclusive fishing lodge, located in Southwestern Alaska off the scenic Kvichak River, provides an adventure of a lifetime while discovering the true wilderness of North America. The purchase was a natural progression for her husband, who has been working at the Lodge for over 9 years, starting as a camp hand and ultimately becoming a bush pilot. [Read more…]
