We love sharing the steps used to construct our designs! Introducing design 101!
For our first post in this series, here’s Brian creating a lemon and moss pomander swag to accent the lanterns outside Arlington Hall for our “Tommy Hilfiger Goes Southern and Citrus” wedding! The bride, Christine, was always so happy and perky! Her bright lemony yellow wedding decor perfectly matched her personality! step one: We gathered several bundles of lemon leaf foliage with floral tape, then attached the bundles to the sconce with a ribbon so as not to scratch the ironwork. For a full look, we pointed the foliage bundles both up and down.
step two: Brian wires the lemons in trios, using a thick guage wire just poked through the end of each lemon. Then, he attached the trios to the base of lemon leaf foliage. We must have used 50-60 lemons per sconce! He also attached pre-made wired moss pomanders.
step three: We added additional sprigs of lemon leaf foliage throughout the lemons for a bit of texture.
step 4: A giant column and crisp white urn topped with a giant moss ball were the perfect pairing for the sconces! The bride provided the adirondack chairs and monogrammed pillows. Looked like a summer soiree in the Hamptons!
step five: the entry is complete and ready for guest arrival!
